NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The third annual gun buy back will be held in North Charleston on Saturday.
The buy back starts at 10 a.m. and goes until noon and is only open to residents of North Charleston.
Residents need to be 18 years of age or older and have to follow state concealed weapon laws when bringing the guns to the buy-back event. No identification will be required when turning in your weapon and residents are limited to three weapons per vehicle. Only working weapons will receive payments. No payments will be made to gun dealers
There are three buy-back locations in North Charleston. You can stop by the Calvary A.M.E Church at 2040 Groveland Ave, also the New Covenant Church at 7363 Stall Road and the Sea Coast Dream Center at 5505 N. Rhett Ave.
Last year there were 127 weapons collected in total. There was a variety of handguns, shot guns, rifles and assault weapons.
If returning a handgun, you will receive a $100 gift card, and a $50 gift card for a shot gun or long gun.
All weapons will be inspected and processed by police before the weapons are destroyed....
Last year, South Carolina ranked 14th in the U.S for deaths related to firearms.
