HORRY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - Authorities have denied bond for one of three men accused of abducting a woman and her grandson.
Elias Collins, 22, was denied bond on Monday for abducting Cindy Mixson, who was present at the court, and her grandchild. Georgetown Police say warrants have been signed for kidnapping charges for the three men also suspected of killing a North Carolina convenience store clerk during a robbery.
According to the Horry County Police Department, the suspects were caught in Horry County and one of the men confessed to the kidnapping and other crimes in the county.
The three suspects arrested are 20-year-old Joshua Weatherspoon, 19-year-old Xzavia Parker and Collins.
Authorities say the three men kidnapped 63-year-old Mixson and her 4-year-old grandson as they were leaving First Baptist Church on Highmarket Street in Georgetown County.
The suspect's made Mixson drive to King Street in Georgetown where they took her pocketbook and jumped into another car, according to investigators.
Police say the same men got into a gun battle with a convenience store owner in Tabor City, NC and killed him. Georgetown police say one of the suspects told them he and the two other men did kidnap Mixson and her grandson and also were involved in some robberies in Horry County.
