CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The SC Department of Health and Environmental Control's Region 7 public health departments, serving Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties, will exercise their pandemic flu response on Saturday, Jan. 29.
Since flu season typically peaks in February and March, this exercise will help the agency prepare for a public health emergency.
DHEC invites the public to participate in this exercise. In exchange for helping improve the agency's level of preparedness, participants can be vaccinated against the flu at no cost.
The exercise will be held from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the North Charleston Convention Center parking lot off International Boulevard. Shots and nasal spray vaccine will be offered during this drive-through-service exercise.
