South Carolina partygoers start by planting pines

BLUFFTON, S.C. (AP) - There's a party with an unusual twist on the South Carolina coast this weekend.

Editors and readers of Charleston-based Garden and Gun magazine along with conservationists are planting longleaf pine trees on Saturday on several acres of land at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton.

The group will plant 2,000 longleaf pine seedlings on about 3 1/2 acres of land.

But it's not all work and no play. Following the planting, there's a pig picking and oyster roast.
