North Charleston police hold another gun buy-back

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Police in North Charleston are again offering money for guns in an attempt to make the streets safer.

City officials say guns are to be turned in at three locations on Saturday; Calvary A.M.E Church on 2040 Groveland Avenue (Union Heights), Now Covenant Church of God at 7363 Stall Road and Sea Coast Church Dream Center at 5505 North Rhett Avenue.

The program is open only to North Charleston residents and only three weapons per vehicle are being accepted.

Police want those guns that are in working order.

The payment is a $100 gift card for handguns and a $50 gift card for shotguns and long guns.

Last year, North Charleston police collected 127 guns.
