GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - A Greer man accused in the death of his 5-month-old daughter pleaded guilty 14 years ago to killing another infant.
Greenville County deputies say 42-year-old Daron Davis was charged with homicide by child abuse after his daughter died Sunday.
Authorities say the infant died from head injuries, but wouldn't elaborate on what happened.
Prosecutors confirm Davis pleaded guilty to homicide by child abuse in Spartanburg County in 1996 in the death of his 11-month-old daughter. He said at the time he didn't kill the child, but did grab it by the head.
Davis was sentenced to the minimum of 20 years in prison and would have been eligible for parole after five years.
Davis remains in the Greenville County jail. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney.
