BEAUFORT, SC (WCSC) - One of the first suspects in a Walterboro gang round last year is going to court.
Jury selection began Monday in Beaufort County in the case against Danziel "Weezy" Chapman. Chapman was one of 20 people arrested and indicted by a grand jury back in June for his participation in gang activity.
He is also facing a murder charge stemming from a shooting in November 2009 when three people were killed, including a 20-month-old girl.
Killed in the shooting were 45-year-old Charles Kittrell, 21-year-old Christopher Powel and 20-month-old Shaniya Burden.
Investigators say about 25 people were at a family gathering when several people drove by and started shooting.
Six other people were shot, but they suffered non-life threatening injuries.
