CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Clouds are already thick over the Lowcountry Tuesday morning and more cloud cover is on the way as the day unfolds. Showers will quickly move in as the rush hour winds down.
Temperatures are in the upper 40's and should reach the mid 50's later Tuesday afternoon, but rain and lots of rain is expected to move in throughout the day. Rain could be heavy at times from noon until mid-evening with some places getting an isolated three inches of rain or more. the heaviest rain will be mainly along the coastal tier of the counties.
There is also a chance for a few thunderstorms Tuesday, but the chance for severe weather remains low at this time. The rain chance Tuesday and Tuesday night is 100 percent. Overnight, the rain will decrease, but wrap around clouds and showers will not clear out. Lows will fall back into the upper 40s to near 50.
Wednesday still looks cloudy with showers on and off through the early afternoon. Highs Wednesday should stay cool in the upper 50's. Clear and sunny weather returns Thursday and into the weekend.
