West Coleman Blvd. lane closures begin Monday

MT. PLEASANT, SC (WCSC) - SCE&G will begin upgrading an existing electrical line along West Coleman Boulevard from Patriots Point Boulevard to Lansing Drive beginning Monday and continuing for the next four to six months.

According to SCE&G, the upgrade is needed to increase the reliability of one of the main electrical lines that feeds into the Mt. Pleasant area. Currently, wooden poles support the existing line along West Coleman Boulevard. The new line will have fewer poles, and they will be constructed of steel.

Due to the size of the equipment needed for this operation, traffic flow will be affected in this area. One lane will be closed for a certain amount of time, for each pole location. SCE&G is working closely with the South Carolina Department of Transportation and the Town of Mt. Pleasant to complete this project.

In order to help traffic flow smoothly during morning and afternoon rush hours, most of the work will be done weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and some weekends.
