GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) - Police are on the lookout for a man who robbed a gas station in Georgetown Wednesday evening.

The Georgetown Police Department says the robbery happened around 9 p.m. at the H&S Self Serve Exxon on Highmarket Street.

The crime was caught on the store's surveillance cameras.

According to the victim, the suspect attacked the clerk from behind by grabbing her and threatening her with a knife.

"I asked him if he was kidding, and he said no, give me your money or I'll kill you," said victim Penny Port. "He had his arms around my neck, had the knife to my neck and told me to open the register."

Port gave him money. She feared the bandit would kill her.

"When the knife was at my neck, that was the point where I was thinking is he going to do this? That was my worst moment,  I was really scared."

The suspect ran out the store and disappeared.

Police are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information should call the Georgetown Police Dept. at 843-545-4400 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
