SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) – A family of seven was displaced from their home after a fire Sunday night in Summerville.
The Lowcountry Chapter of the American Red Cross was called to the scene of the fire which displaced seven residents, including four adults and three children. The Summerville Fire Department responded to the blaze located at 819 West 3rd North Street.
Officials say the home was destroyed in the fire.
The Red Cross provided temporary lodging for the family, as well as financial assistance to replace food and clothing lost in the fire. At the scene, comfort kits filled with emergency supplies to replace personal items lost in the flames were provided the family. Children also received stuffed animals.
The Red Cross has assisted 115 fire victims since Jan. 1 and 759 individuals needing aid due to home fires in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper Counties since the start of our fiscal year, July 1, 2010.
