KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina man says he's going to fight three tickets worth more than $3,200 after he allowed his dog to run on the beach at Kiawah Island without a leash.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports Graham Banks of Branchville has decided to go to court next week to fight the fines he got Sept. 28.
The town of Kiawah Island offered to settle the matter for $500, but Banks says he's outraged by the fines he was given for his Jack Russell terrier-Labrador retriever named Boo.
Banks was given one ticket for $$1,072 for having an unleashed dog on the beach and got two more identical citations when he refused to provide the code enforcement officer with information.
Banks says he's always been able to walk his dog on the beach in the offseason without a leash.
