Early morning fire destroys Walterboro home

WALTERBORO, SC (WCSC) -  Red Cross volunteers were called Monday morning to assist a Walterboro family of three whose home was destroyed by an early morning home fire.

The Red Cross provided temporary lodging for the family, financial assistance to replace food and clothing lost in the fire and comfort kits filled with emergency supplies to replace personal items lost in the flames. Referrals to area partner agencies of the Red Cross were provided to aid in their recovery.  The Red Cross will remain in contact with the victims to provide assistance should additional needs arise.

The Red Cross has assisted 118 fire victims since January 1st and 762 individuals needing aid due to home fires in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper Counties since the start of our fiscal year, July 1, 2010.
