James Island's fight to remain town continues at Supreme Court

JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) – The Town of James Island heads back to South Carolina's highest court in the fight to remain a town.

The State Supreme Court is expected to hear the challenge from the City of Charleston on Wednesday, which is appealing a lower court's decision to essentially allow James Island to form a town.

James Island Mayor Bill Woosley has been asking for peace. He wants Charleston to drop the lawsuit, and says if James Island were to lose; it would file for incorporation again. That would make James Island's fourth time.

On the Facebook page for James Island, people are organizing a bus ride to Columbia on Wednesday so people can hear the arguments before the State Supreme Court.
