WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) – A Wando High School parent was arrested after a basketball game Friday night for allegedly assaulting a teacher.
School staff notified Charleston police that 39-year-old Naji Pasha assaulted a West Ashley High School teacher, according to a police report. Pasha was arrested and charged with simple assault.
The incident occurred in the high school gymnasium following a boys' basketball game between West Ashley and Wando High School. The responding officer observed the teacher bleeding from his face in the second row of the visiting team's bleachers.
According to the police report, Pasha told police that he struck the male teacher because he saw him come into contact with his wife and son.
The teacher was taken to Roper St. Francis and received eight stitches after being struck with a closed fist.
