Suspect wanted for stealing more than $100k worth of jewelry

KIAWAH ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - The Charleston County Sheriff's Office is investigating two burglaries on Kiawah Island, one of which the suspect stole more than $100,000 worth of jewelry.

According to deupties, the first burglary happened Friday afternoon at a home on Snowy Egret Lane. When deputies responded to the home for a residential alarm, they noticed a small plastic bag laying on the ground near the side of the home.

Deputies say they found jewelry inside of the bag. Investigators then found an unlocked bedroom door and discovered two doors inside of the home that were found to have holes above their door knobs.

Authorities were able to talk to the key holder of the home and confirm that the jewelry found outside of the home belonged to the homeowner.

In the second burglary, authorities responded to a home on Cormorant Island Lane. The victim said that when he arrived home Friday evening, he did not notice anything unusual, but the following morning, he noticed that someone had entered his home through a possible unlocked door, which leads to the bedroom.

According to investigators, the suspect entered the bedrooms only and opened two unlocked safes which were incased in a wooden cabinet.

The victim said that a Tiffany & Co. necklace valued at $125,000 and a $7,000 Rolex watch was stolen. Also stolen were Suzanne B. Anthony gold coins and a 7-inch bracelet.
