CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – A man wanted in the U.S. to face allegations that he supplied cocaine to former state treasurer Thomas Ravenel, was arrested in Italy Thursday.
The Polizia di Stato Squadra Mobile di Torino arrested 56-year-old Pasquale Pellicoro at his girlfriend's house outside of Torino, Italy Thursday morning without incident.
Pellicoro fled to Italy in January, the same day a French court agreed to extradite him to South Carolina to face drug charges. Pellicoro is wanted in the U.S. on allegations that he supplied cocaine to former state treasurer Thomas Ravenel. Ravenel was arrested in 2007.
Pellicoro, a former Johns Island resident, was scheduled to appear in a Charleston federal court on charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine in September 2007, but he fled.
Pellicoro was on the run for three years before he was arrested in a small French town in October 2010. Pellicoro was not in custody when the extradition decision was made.
