Summerville man charged with fraud and identity theft

COLUMBIA, SC (WCSC) - Authorities have charged a 39-year-old Summerville man with fraud and identity theft.

James Lester Blakeney was charged in a five-count indictment, with conspiracy to commit bank fraud, two counts of bank fraud, one count of aggravated identity theft and one count of the use of one or more unauthorized access devices.

The maximum penalty Blakeney could receive is 30 years imprisonment on each count of conspiracy and bank fraud, two years imprisonment consecutive on the identity theft charge, and 10 years imprisonment on the use of unauthorized access devices charge.

The case was investigated by agents of the United States Secret Service and is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney T. DeWayne Pearson of the Columbia office for prosecution.
