Suspect arrested in Gerogetown County stabbing incident

GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) – A Georgetown man was arrested early Friday morning in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred in Georgetown County late Thursday night.

According to Georgetown County sheriff's deputies, the stabbing happened in the 700 block of Whitesville Road, which is located in the Rosehill section of Georgetown. Deputies met with a female on scene who advised that her boyfriend had been stabbed.

The victim told deputies that he had been involved in an altercation with 36-year-old Dexter Glenn West of Georgetown earlier in Williamsburg County. Sometime after the altercation, West gave the victim and his girlfriend a ride home. After they arrived at the Whitesville Road residence, West stabbed the victim with an unknown object and fled the area in a Chevy Lumina, according to a police report.

West was arrested at his residence a short time later and is currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center. He has been charged with attempted murder.

The victim was transported to the Georgetown Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
