13-year-old foils home invasion

COLUMBUS, OH (CBS) - The actions of a quick-thinking teenager helped police nab a pair of would-be burglars.

Hope Park, 13, was alone at her home when she heard someone knocking at the front door.

"I was just sitting right here doing my homework as usual and I hear something," Hope said. "Since they can't see me, I just peak out the door and see its two young men."

Hope said the pair then tried to break into the back door. She grabbed a phone and ran to the top of the steps where she called for help.

The dispatcher told Park to be quiet and find a hiding spot.

"I didn't know what to do," Hope said. "I was shaking and I was scared."

Officers arrived at the house and took the pair into custody. Police said both were juveniles.

"I'm just thankful that I'm here to share with other teenagers my age, because I was scared," Hope said. "I don't want anyone to go through what I did."
