Charleston police officers were called to the West Ashley High School parking lot around noon last Wednesday in reference to a possible weapon being in a student's car. Upon arrival, officers discovered a black BMW double parked. The vehicle's owner, a student, was located and pulled out of class.

After searching the student, 17-year-old Aiken, officers found $1,600 on him, a police report states. Officers then looked through the window of the car and saw a silver revolver in the back seat. According to officers, a search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a 44 caliber Bulldog hand gun, which was loaded with five rounds.

After entering the vehicle, officers say they smelled a strong odor of marijuana. Officers located a black plastic bag which contained two zip-lock bags and one clear plastic bag of marijuana. Several boxes of sandwich bags, commonly used to package and resell marijuana, were also found. A total of 93.11 grams of marijuana was seized, according to the police report.

West Ashley High School's policy is that if you drive and park on school property, you and your vehicle are subject to search at any time. School officials were present during the investigation.
