West Ashley pharmacy robbed at gunpoint; School locked down

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) – The St. Andrew's Middle School was placed on administrative lockdown Wednesday because of an armed robbery in the area.

A Charleston County school district spokesman said that after an armed robbery in the area the school was locked down. Teachers escorted students to buses and cars to be picked up and school officials called parents of students who normally walk home.

According to Charleston police, a white male with a red beard robbed the Plantation Pharmacy on Wappoo Road at gun point around 3:15 p.m. Police say he stole undetermined amount of Oxycodone pills.

The suspect is described as a white male between 5'9" and 5'11" with a red beard and he wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt and dark slacks.

No one was injured during the robbery.
