Charleston County moves forward to ban plastic yard bags

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Plastic yard bags may be a thing of the past in Charleston.

On Thursday night, county council voted to move forward to ban plastic yard bags.

Advocates say it will make the city more environmentally friendly because they do not decompose in landfills. Paper bags however will decompose.

The debate will be taken up next Tuesday at the county council meeting.
