COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Students from College of Charleston, Clemson University and the University of South Carolina want to let lawmakers know the importance of higher education in the state.
Students from all three institutions are holding a rally at the Statehouse in Columbia on Tuesday. They plan to tell lawmakers they don't like cuts to higher education that have resulted in tuition increases at colleges.
After giving speeches and meeting reporters on the Statehouse steps, students will sign statements urging lawmakers not to cut higher education.
The students also plan to meet with lawmakers throughout the day.
