SPARTANBURG, S.C. – For the second week in a row, College of Charleston senior All-America candidate Andrew Goudelock (Stone Mountain, Ga.) was named Southern Conference Player of the Week for games played from Feb. 8-14 the league office announced on Tuesday.
Goudelock averaged a team-leading 23.0 points, 6.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds and dished out 12 assists with one turnover as the Cougars (19-7, 12-2) went 2-0 for the week with an 85-67 road victory at Elon on Feb. 9 and an 87-69 rout of UNC Greensboro on Feb. 12, to remain the front runner in the SoCon regular-season race. It marked his third career weekly honor.
The 6-foot-2 senior guard shot a career-best 8-of-12 from beyond the arc to register a career-and game-high 34 points against the Phoenix. Goudelock continues to rank among the top five players in the country in scoring (5th, 23.7 ppg), career scoring (2nd, 2,310) and three-point field goals made per game (3rd, 3.4 avg). He is currently on a 12-game double-digit scoring streak and is now tied for seventh all-time in the SoCon record books with Dom Flora of Washington & Lee (1954-58) with 2,310 career points to date.
Other top league performers included Appalachian State's Donald Simms, The Citadel's Cameron Wells, Davidson's Brendan McKillop, Furman's Darryl Evans, Georgia Southern's Ben Drayton III, Chattanooga's Ricky Taylor, Western Carolina's Trey Sumler and Wofford's Jamar Diggs.
