JAMES ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - A deadly accident on James Island killed one person and injured four others on Folly Road Tuesday afternoon.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says that a Ford Explorer with four people inside was traveling on Folly Road heading towards the city. According to investigators, the driver of the Explorer lost control of the vehicle which then crossed the median and hit a 2004 Ford F-250. The F-250 then ran into a house at 1714 Folly Road.
"There were two people ejected from the Ford Explorer at least one of them has died and three have been transported as well as the person in the f-250," said Maj. John Clark with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.
The fatal victim has not been identified.
Deputies report that the truck was hauling a trailer, but no animals were on board.
"It was pretty amazing, pretty shocking," Donna Richardson said about the accident that caused a truck to end up in her living room Tuesday.
Authorities say all of the injured victims were taken to MUSC with life threatening injuries. No one in the home was harmed. The victims in the Explorer ranged in ages from 18 to 21 while the driver of the F-250 is said to be in her 50's.
"We're going to try and figure out the speed and try to determine who was driving the car," Clark said.
Paris Richardson says he was watching TV when he heard a loud noise and saw the truck next door inside his cousin's home.
"We heard a large bang like an explosion," he said.
As for Donna Richardson, she says this is not the first time a vehicle has come through her house.
"There is some damage and we will probably have people come out to access it. I'm just happy that my Mom is OK. Unfortunately someone died and my prayers go out to them," she said.
