Shooting suspect arrested for attempted murder in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) - Georgetown County sheriff's deputies arrested and charged a man with attempted murder after a shooting Wednesday night.

Deputies arrested 25-year-old Corey Richard Tilton and charged him with attempted murder.

According to investigators, Tilton and the victim were having an argument. When deputies arrived at the scene around 11 p.m., on Missroon Street in Georgetown, they found the victim with a gunshot wound to the abdomen area.

According to the victim, Tilton brandished a handgun and shot him during the argument and then fled the area in a dark colored mustang.

The victim in the shooting was taken to Georgetown Memorial Hospital. There is no word on his condition.

Tilton was located a short time later by deputies and was arrested and transported to the Georgetown County Detention Center where he is awaiting a bond hearing.
