BERKELEY COUNTY, SC (WCSC) - An internal investigation in Berkeley County found that a deputy did not use excessive force after being spat upon by a suspect upon.
According to a letter sent to Sheriff Wayne Dewitt, Deputy Robert Thomas did not use excessive force when he slapped and punched a man.
It says Thomas used the necessary force to prevent the disorderly conduct from the suspect.
But the letter did say the deputy used poor judgement when he got into an argument with the man.
Thomas was put on administrative leave with pay during the investigation into the Jan. 20 incident.
