Proposed merger of 2 North Charleston schools delayed until next year

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - The proposed merging of two North Charleston High Schools has been put on hold until next year.

Charleston County School Superintendent Dr. Nancy McGinley announced they would be delaying the plan for a year.

The school board was slated to vote on the proposal of merging North Charleston High and Stall High at the next meeting on Feb. 28.

McGinley plans to form a community task force to increase understanding of the proposal and explore other possibilities in the next 10 months.

The district still wants to know what you think about the proposal. Community meetings are scheduled for next week.

Meetings will be held at Zucker, Northwoods Middle and Morningside Middle Schools at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

On Wednesday, meetings will be held at Stall High School at 6 p.m. and at North Charleston High School at 7 p.m.
