CROSS, SC (WIS) - The Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office shut down another night club, marking the second one this month.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control condemned Club Purple Rain. He said a number of liquor license violations were found, totaling almost $2,000, along with fire code violations.
Ravenell said the club will not be allowed to re-open.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department, the State Law Enforcement Division, and the South Carolina Department of Probation and Parole also aided in the investigation.
Sheriff Ravenell was sworn into office earlier this month. "On day one I want to come in and sit down and work on a plan with my team and start working on crime in Orangeburg," Ravenell said just minutes after beating Republican Allen Hiott by a 4-1 margin.
Club 601 was also shut down February 4th after an investigation led to a drug arrest along with a number of violations.
