Gas prices continue to climb well over $3 a gallon

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – Gas prices continue to rise across the nation and the Lowcountry.

Gas prices are more than 50 cents higher than last year. According to AAA, the national average is $3.18 a gallon.

Instability in the Middle East could push oil prices higher, with some predicting crude reaching $100 a barrel within a few weeks.

A national survey found the most expensive gas is in San Francisco at $3.54 a gallon.

The Valero gas station in North Charleston at 4327 Spruill Ave is the cheapest in the area at $2.79 a gallon.
