Force Protection in Ladson announces job cuts

LADSON, SC (WCSC) – Force Protection in Ladson will be reducing its workforce due to ongoing budget constraints within the U.S. Department of Defense.

Force Protection is reducing its workforce by approximately 100 manufacturing and administrative/staff positions.  The current worldwide workforce is now made up of 1,175 employees, with approximately 725 in the Charleston area.  The majority of the positions cut will be in the Charleston area.

Force Protection said that while its international business is growing in prominence, the current environment in the U.S. is changing and the company said it must respond accordingly.

The company said its reorganization is designed to allow it to continue to respond quickly to the needs of all of its customers and ensure troops have the vehicles and related services required to successfully operate.

Force Protection said it clearly regrets having to take this action, but said it is critical that it remain well positioned to capitalize on both international and domestic opportunities that will help drive future success.
