GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - Police have charged a 13-year-old boy in connection with a fire that caused nearly $5,000 worth of damage to a home in Goose Creek.
The Goose Creek Police Department charged the boy with third-degree arson for the Friday home fire on Thousand Oaks Circle.
According to authorities, the juvenile was playing at the back of the house with other boys and took out a lighter and ignited the grass.
Detectives say the other juveniles did not know that the boy was going to start the fire. When the boys were unable to extinguish the fire, all the boys fled the house, a police report states.
The boy was charged and released to his father. No injuries were reported.
