Family loses home in Goose Creek fire

GOOSE CREEK, SC (WCSC) - A fire destroyed a home on North Pembroke Drive leaving a family homeless in Goose Creek Sunday night.

The Red Cross provided the family with temporary shelter in a nearby hotel and financial assistance to help replace the food, and clothing lost in the fire. The family also received infant supplies and stuffed animals for the children, plus comfort kits filled with personal emergency supplies for all family members.

The Red Cross will follow-up with this family to ensure their needs are met.

The Red Cross has assisted 837  individuals needing aid due to home fires in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper counties since our fiscal year began, July 1, 2011 including 189 individuals needing aid since January 1.
