EUTAWVILLE,SC (WSCS) - According to the South Carolina Forestry Commission, officials worked about 92 wildfires Monday alone.
The forestry Commission says low humidity and windy conditions have caused several wildfires to get out of control quickly. At one point, a fire which stared in Orangeburg moved into the Berkley County side.
"That fire proved to be one of the challenging fires," said Scott Hawkins with the State Forestry Commission.
Scott says the tough part about this particular fire was that it was in a remote area with very difficult terrain to battle.
"We will come back at this fire full strength Tuesday if its not contained tonight hopefully we will get a line around it tomorrow," Hawkins said.
Because of the current conditions the Forestry Commission is asking everyone to refrain from outdoor burning.
Scott says that anytime conditions are ideal to do outdoor burn you are required by law to first call the state Forestry Commission.
Since the beginning of February there have been more than 500 wildfires across the state.
