WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (AP) - Police say a safe containing $8,000 meant to help veterans has been stolen from a Charleston woman's home.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office says the safe was taken during a garage sale at a woman's home on Feb. 11. The woman says several hundred people came to her home and it appears someone walked inside and took the safe.
The South Carolina Chapter of the Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors say they planned to use the money to help vets pay bills or to help them pay for vacations.
