2 men charged with armed robbery, attempted murder in Georgetown

GEORGETOWN, SC (WCSC) - Georgetown County sheriff's investigators arrested two men in connection with a November, 2010 armed robbery at a Georgetown County convenience store.

Investigators arrested 24-year-old Amon Devon Knowlin, of Georgetown, and 29-year-old Jomar Tari Bennett, of Georgetown. Both suspects have been charged with armed robbery, attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The suspects are charged in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on Nov. 11, 2010. According to the sheriff's office, two male suspects, dressed in dark clothing and wearing ski masks, entered the Deep Grocery convenience store located at 2404 Georgetown Highway armed with handguns, demanding money from the store owner.

During the incident, the store owner was shot in the leg by one of the suspects. The suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Both men are currently being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center on a $85,000 bond.
