5 arrested as police seize over $8,000 in drugs

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – The North Charleston Police Department made five arrests in two separate drug busts this week. Officers seized close to $7,000 worth of cocaine and $2,000 worth of marijuana.

The first bust happened Monday while North Charleston police officers executed a search warrant at 3755 Old Pine Circle in the St. Charles Apartment complex. Officers were led to the residence based on an ongoing investigation.

During the execution of the search warrant, officers located 29.1 grams of cocaine, 37.6 grams of cocaine base, a handgun and several items consistent with weighing and packaging cocaine. The cocaine seized has a street value of $2,910 and the cocaine base is worth $3,760.

Officers arrested 29-year-old Zeigler Polite, of North Charleston, and charged him with trafficking of cocaine base and cocaine and possession of a gun during the commission of a violent crime. Charlene Jenkins, 29, and 31-year-old Sartina McFadden, both of North Charleston, were also arrested. Jenkins was charged with possession of cocaine and McFadden was charged with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine.

The second drug bust happened Wednesday after officers executed a search warrant at 2671 Olympia Drive. Officers located 218.8 grams of marijuana along with several items consistent with packaging and weighing drugs. The marijuana has a street value of $2,180.

Rebecca Yon, 24, and Brandon Sanders, 25, both of North Charleston were arrested during the bust. They are both charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana in proximity to a school.
