Woman tries to put out Summerville house fire with garden hose

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) - Firefighters spent much of Friday morning putting out a fire at a home on Pointer Drive in the Quail Arbor Subdivision in Summerville.

Old Fort Fire Department responded to the fire just before 3 a.m. Friday. When firefighters arrived, the garage was on fire and the women in the home was trying to put the fire out with a garden hose.

Firefighters went in the house to try and put the fire out, but high winds caused the fire to spread quickly. Firefighters had to evacuate and regroup, then go back in.

Officials say the fire started in the garage. No one was hurt in the fire, but the home suffered major damage and is not livable.

Two pets were in the home at the time, one is missing.

The Summerville fire department was also called in to help with the fire. The fire is still under investigation.
