CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Another piece of the past has been reclaimed in downtown Charleston.
The city, the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity and the Historic Charleston Foundation dedicate the rehabilitated home on Friday. All three donated money, expertise and volunteer time for the project.
The house dates to the late 1800s and is a traditional Charleston single house. Before the repairs, it was unsafe with part of the house sinking.
The house was raised and, among other things, its foundation repaired, lead paint removed and new heating and air conditioning installed.
