SUMTER, SC (AP) - An international organization that helps fight hunger will deliver a truck full of food and other essentials to the Boys and Girls Club in Sumter.
Feed The Children will be in the South Carolina town Saturday to distribute boxes of food, personal items and Avon products.
The organization is teaming up with the local Salvation Army, which identified the families receiving the boxes. The 25 pounds of food and 10 pounds of personal items are designed to provide about a week's worth of relief.
Feed The Children says about one-third of children living in Sumter are considered impoverished.
The distribution is part of Feed The Children's Americans Feeding Americans Caravan, which has helped more than 220,000 families across the country since it began in 2009.
