RAVENEL, SC (WCSC) – The Charleston County Sheriff's Office was called out to a traffic accident that left one person dead and three others injured Friday evening in Ravenel.
The Charleston County Coroner's Office has identified Vernon Drayton, 61, of Hollywood as the victim killed in this accident. Drayton died from injuries sustain in the crash.
Investigators say the accident occurred at around 7p.m. where a 1992 Cadillac was exiting the Fuel Zone on Savannah Highway and was hit by a 2004 pickup truck. The Cadillac then sideswiped a 1995 Honda traveling south on Highway 17 injuring the driver.
Drayton the driver of the Cadillac was taken to Medical University of South Carolina where they died later that night. The two passengers in the Cadillac were also taken to MUSC for non-life threatening injuries.
According to deputies the driver of the Honda was taken to St. Francis Hospital for a possible broken left arm and back pain. The driver's child who was restrained in a car seat was not injured.
There are no charges pending in this investigation.
