COLUMBIA, SC (AP) - Columbia-based transportation firm Wilbur Smith Associates has been bought by Cambridge, Mass.-based CDM.
The companies announced the deal on their websites Friday. The price wasn't disclosed.
Wilbur Smith employs about 1,200 people who provides consulting services for infrastructure and transportation planning. The employees own the company that was founded in 1952.
CDM is also owned by its 4,500 employees and provides consulting, engineering, construction and other services to public and private clients in water, environment, transportation and energy industries.
CDM chairman Richard Fox said the two companies share a similar corporate culture and their different services will merge together well.
Wilbur Smith spokeswoman Danielle Gadow says the deal is not expected to affect employment at either company.
