Sheriff closes third night club in a month

ORANGEBURG, SC (WIS) - A Orangeburg County night club in Bowman was closed and condemned last week, marking the third one to be shut down in a month.

Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said deputies conducted a compliance check at Club Ceron on Johnson Horne Road and issued citations in the amount of $2,000. The club's owner, Michael Jerome Glover, was charged with selling beer on Sunday. He also received fines for selling liquor without a license and serving alcohol on Sunday.

"This is part of our concentrated effort to continue to eliminate businesses in Orangeburg County that are not operating in the full scope of the law," said Sheriff Ravenell, "We are working to shut down the nuisance establishments that have a choke hold on our officer's time because of the violent and criminal acts that take place during their operating hours. We are already seeing a difference in our ability to more effectively patrol our streets and deter crime."

After an inspection, the Fire Marshall and a building inspector found numerous violations, according to Sheriff Ravenell, which resulted in the condemnation of the building.
