NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – North Charleston Police are looking to two suspects involved in a shooting Sunday on Iris street that left one man dead.
Investigators has issued murder warrants for Tiwana Monique Choice,38, of North Charleston and Randall Lamark Cohen Junior,24, of Summerville afterdetectives were able to identify these two as the murder suspects in this case.
The coroner's office say that James Murphy died from a single gun shot wound to the head. North Charleston police officers are continuing to piece together details of the shooting on Iris Street.
According to police, officers responded to an apartment located at 1902 Iris Street around 7 p.m. in reference to someone being shot. Upon arrival, officers located the victim lying on the sidewalk in front of the apartment with a single gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
Officers say that the victim was involved in some type altercation with several other people earlier in the day. Investigators are still following up on leads to identify a suspect or suspects and determine a motive for the shooting.
Neighbors say they're very concerned with the amount of violence in the area. "This is a good neighborhood with good people, but all the riff-raff makes it unsafe for anyone to live here. I'm looking to move elsewhere," says one resident on Spruill Avenue.
North Charleston police say they are patrolling the area more heavily.
