Authorities release 911 calls from Daniel Island fire

DANIEL ISLAND, SC (WCSC) - Authorities have released 911 tapes from a fire that had multiple fire engines and firefighters responding to battle a blaze that shut down two businesses on Daniel Island Monday night.

Including in the recordings are fire officials requesting for additional help and a bystander discovering the fire.

Charleston city firefighters were called out after 2:30 a.m. to the building in the 800 block of Island Park Drive where flames were reportedly shooting from the roof up to forty feet in the air.

Deputy Chief John Tippett says one incident commander took charge of the scene calling all the shots to ensure the safety of everyone involved. Crews responded to the fire with five engines, three ladders and a total of more than 40 firefighters.

No injuries were reported.
