Thursday marks anniversary of 5-year-old boy's unsolved murder

MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) - Thursday marks the 22nd anniversary of 5-year-old Justin Turner's death. It's Berkeley County's longest active unsolved murder case.

At the time of Turner's death, he was in kindergarten at Whitesville Elementary.

On the morning of March 3, 1989, Turner was supposed to leave his home on Horseshoe Road in Moncks Corner to catch his school bus. That afternoon he didn't get off the bus.

The bus driver later told investigators Turner never got on the bus that morning.

It was on March 5, that Turner's body was found in a camper on the property where he lived.
He died by asphyxiation due to strangulation and sexual assault with a blunt object.
His body was found by his father, Victor Turner.
