COPY-Father's bond set at $100k for obstruction in son's murder

WEST ASHLEY, SC (WCSC) - A 49-year-old man received a $100,000 bond on Thursday for obstruction charges in his son's murder investigation.

Charleston detectives say Kennedy Smith tried to hinder the murder investigation by not telling them everything that happened Tuesday afternoon. The coroner's office says 25-year-old James Smith was shot on St. Clair Drive that afternoon.

According to investigators, Kennedy Smith drove his son to the St. Andrews Fire Department for help, but James Smith died at the fire station.

Detectives say they determined on Wednesday that Kennedy Smith attempted to hinder or impeded the murder investigation by concealing information about the incident.

Smith was also arrested Tuesday night for possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
