Man thought to be lost Georgetown boater arrested in Fla.

GEORGETOWN, S.C. (AP) - A man who prompted a search when his empty boat was found on the South Carolina coast has been arrested in Florida.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports 58-year-old Harvey Legrand Cox was arrested Thursday by the U.S. Marshals Service and deputies in Marion County, Fla.

Cox is wanted in South Carolina on a charge of committing a lewd act on a child.

Deputies searched the South Carolina coast for Cox in January after an empty 12-foot boat with his belongings was found. His car and boat trailer were found nearby at a boat ramp in Murrells Inlet.

Officials called off the search after determining Cox really wasn't missing at sea and had taken a cab back to his hometown of Florence.
