NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) – The North Charleston Police Department have arrested a 38-year-old woman after she surrendered to police in connection with a fatal shooting.
Tiwana Choice's arrest comes on the heels of authorities arresting 24-year-old Randall Cohen Jr. who was also arrested Friday afternoon near the Cosgrove Bridge. Both were wanted on murder warrants.
The coroner's office says that James Murphy died from a single gun shot wound to the head Sunday night. Police officers responded to an apartment located at 1902 Iris Street around 7 p.m. Sunday in reference to someone being shot.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim lying on the sidewalk in front of the apartment with a single gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead a short time later.
Officers say that the victim was involved in some type altercation with several other people earlier in the day. Investigators are still following up on leads to identify a suspect or suspects and determine a motive for the shooting.
Neighbors say they are very concerned with the amount of violence in the area.
"This is a good neighborhood with good people, but all the riff-raff makes it unsafe for anyone to live here," says one resident on Spruill Avenue. "I'm looking to move elsewhere."
